Arts Award Explore is a nationally recognised qualification for young people aged 7-25 designed by Trinity College London. It celebrates young people’s creativity, gives them confidence in the arts, and introduces them to the process of documenting and sharing their creative journey.
What the Qualification Involves
To achieve Explore, young people:
Discover: try a new art activity, explore ideas, and learn about artists and arts organisation.
Create: make artwork in any chosen medium or art form.
Reflect: document the process, including their learning and creative decisions.
Share: present their work to an audience, which could be friends, family, peers, or online.
The learner’s work is assessed by a trained Arts Award adviser, and may be moderated by Arts Award for quality assurance.
Recognition and Outcome
Level: Entry Level Award in the Arts (Entry 3)
Certificate: Learners receive a certificate from Trinity College London once their portfolio is approved.
Portfolio: The child’s artwork, reflections, and evidence of sharing are compiled into a portfolio that forms the assessment.
